The Life Changing Magic

This weekend I....

Hung out in the sunshine and took Plastikote to the doors in the boys kitchen in the garden, as they have painted the walls an bright blue and the beige-y-meh-y cabinets just didn't cut it anymore! Think Cornish-ware colour schemes now......
{I have the other half of the kitchen to do next weekend - the sun, and friends were calling louder than a spray-paint light head!}

Discovered this amazing 'sky blue' paint - expect to see a Holga appearing in this shade soon!

Abandoned the painting for a few g&t's in the sun with Sarah and Beth and marvelled at the people playing in the peace gardens.

Then went wine tasting.
Our friend Lizzie had arranged it or her birthday and it was so much fun. We went to a restaurant/wine shop on Eccelsall Rd {so it was an easy walk back}.
There was much giggling {the girls table was way more raucous than the boys}, some wine learnings, and a lot of rosey wine cheeks at the end;

Did you know Champagne is made from Red wine? They just don't just the skins. What I really wanted to know is how they peel all the grapes? Who's job is that?
And Champagne is frozen to get the muck out, then the frozen champers is shot out of the bottle - now that would be a job!

A Delamotte Champagne.

One of the things that makes wine alcoholic is called Tannin. I am not sure quite how it works {we had drunk a little bit by this point} but I know it does not help you get a tan, and wine from the 70's, which is overloaded with Tannin is NOT nice.

Lizzie smelling the flavours - Um-bongo anyone?

We also learnt that you, not surprisingly, get better wine from the smaller vinyards as they only grow small amounts of grapes on each vine, so those grapes get the most nutrients, where as at mass producing places they go for quantity.

And you are NOT supposed to eat the blue cheese before you have the red wine, as the boys found out!

You can see more pic's from the wine tasting here.
